hey all... just thought I'd share a song that I wrote for a friend of mine. Her name's Stacey. She and her boyfriend have come to the next level.... they're talking about marriage. He's been chewed up and spit out so to speak. She's CRAZY about him! A great guy with a lot of crappy stuff happen to him in his past relationships... anyways... I've known the story for a long tme, but this new development has inspired me to write a song! It's been a long time since I've pulled out the ol' pen and paper, but it something I want to get back into. I really enjoy it. This one took about 10 mins to write, so there are a few nit-picky things that will need some tweaking. Here goes:

Before Me

I know youi've been hurt by a love you once knew
But I want to be here to help see you through
You don't deserve the pain in your eyes that i see
but soon that will fade cuz that was before me

1st chorus:
Before me was heartache
Before me was hurt
I want to show you what real love should be
Not what you had before you had me

My heart is open, my emotions are bare
I have a heart full of love that I want to share
I want give life to your family
You've deserved that long before me

Chorus:
Before me was heartache
Before me was hurt
I want to show you what real love should be
Not what you had before you had me

Now I walk beside you with your hand in mine
And promise you love till the end of time

2nd Chorus:
With me you'll be loved
With me you'll have trust
I want to show you what real love should be
Not what you had before you had me

One day you'll see what real love should be
when we're saying our vows and you're standing....... before me

I know the rhyming is kind of corny, but that's just how it.....kinda....came out! haha!

Crystal I have to agree that it's a nice set of lyrics.  Excellent sentiment.  Tweak a bit of the meter maybe.  Hard to tell without a tune how your gonna handle the balance.  Somehow Kelley I don't see it as a headbanger or heavy metal  LMAO

Again, Crystal very nice for an initial scratch.

aww thanks, guys.... yah... I can understand that the rhythm doesn't quite seem right in print.... it fits when it's in my head! LOL!

Kelley... it's country.... definately!

as for puttin it to music...... I'm not that talented! LOL!! I've heard of a few people here (and elsewhere) who use other karaoke backings that aren't very well known.... so who knows... maybe I'll find one that fits!

thanks all!

Nice going Crystal. A bit rough around the edges, but worth working with. I'm going to play with it now.

Crystal,
You probably have a melody floating around in your head.  Make a recording of yourself just singing the lyrics to whatever melody you have.  Somebody can probably put chords to it and help polish it up a bit.

LOL!!! I have the lyrics on Tyson's computer.... which are now stored on a portable hard drive, but I don't have access to them right now!! I still think about that parody everytime I hear the original!! LOL!! I should re-write it to suit the SS crew NOW!

Yep, I agree Crystal, very nice.  I used to write a ton of poetry. A few of them I created more as songs, but like you I'm not very musically / instrumentally inclined - so never did anything else with them. Perhaps I'll share sometime...

Bill
